Is there anyway Xibo can run on an external web server hosting? So not on a local pc but through web hosting through 123-reg?

You are better of renting a cheap VPS, you can get them for $20/month or less. That’s what I have done.
A web hosting server setup is normally to restrictive for what is required for Xibo, your host would need to install xibo services and symlink folders to make it work.
Yes, but the shared hosting should allow ssh connections.
*symlinks are not necessary for install Xibo.
