Xibo CMS Display ID

Running Xibo 1.8.3, noticed that when I delete a display entry in the CMS the enumeration for the ID column (not the unique display ID) does not restart.

For example, my single client appears on the Display list as ID 1, I delete this entry and after several moments the client connects again and appears on the Display list as ID 2.

Is this intended, is it a bug, is there a way to reset this counter?

The ID is a primary key of the DB and is auto-incremented. You can reset it using MySQL tools if really required.

I’d not recommend making direct changes on the db, while yes you can do that if you really want, it’s not something we can openly suggest.

If you do decide to make such changes, please make sure that you know what you’re doing and take the db backup before doing it.

Yes, but if I’m deleting records through the form, shouldn’t the database be doing some cleanup?

That’s how auto-increment counters in databases work.

If you add record 1,2 and 3, and then delete 2 and 3, the next record will be number 4.

The ID is there as an internal number. We expose it as it’s useful for troubleshooting etc.
