Yes that’s right - it’s only available locally on the player due to its destructive nature ![]()
Hi @dan!
Getting back on this topic:
Microsoft marked the topic as closed after much debate.
Will we now be able to have this WebView solution instead of CefSharp on Windows players?
Any updates on this topic? Or any plans to stop using CEFSharp since WebView2 now has the WPF fixed?
Thanks!
If that bug had been solved 18 months ago we would certainly have implemented it. Unfortunately today I think it is unlikely. Switching entirely to WebView2 will undoubtedly cause a bunch of issues for people, the majority of whom have a working solution.
If you have been following discussions around the Linux player, you’ll know that we have been working on an Electron based player for Linux, which will also run on Windows. This is looking promising and would become the focus of our development efforts on Windows.
What a mismatch…
I don’t judge you for moving forward with another solution, because it really seemed like Microsoft would never solve this 15-year-old problem.
Well, we just have to wait for the new Electron player that’s coming.
Thanks for the feedback, Dan!
