Uploading images not working

Hello

I’m using a fresh install of v1.8 with Wampserver on Window 7. When I try to upload an image into the library I click on add image button within the media section. The explorer window opens from my OS and allows me to select the image, I click OK. Then within Xibo I click the blue upload button. I see the progress bar activate and complete, but then I get this message “Upload server currently unavailable” and the file does not upload.

Could you please enable debugging, recreate the issue in new tab and see if there are more information about this error on Logs page?

I assume that you did install your CMS as described in the manual pages you mentioned?

I read the information from this link in the DEV section, where Alex explains that v1.8 cannot be installed the same way as v1.7 series, which I did not do

So, IF you are doing a custom or manual install (without using Docker) [here are the doc’s instructions] (http://xibo.org.uk/manual-tempel/en/manual_install.html). I’ve learned that the main difference for this installation from the v1.7 series is ONLY the files within the “web” folder are to be placed in your normal Wampserver location. All the other files are to be stored “outside” of the normal Wampserver location. Read full instructions for placing files. Is this correct Peter?

I’ll be re-installing my new version 1.8 this week and if I have more questions I’ll post again. But, please let me know if I have a good understanding. Thanks!

Yeah, that seems to be correct, the manual pages for environment and manual installation should be helpful.

Alternatively, you could use docker as that’s the fully supported way of installing 1.8.

You’ll need to use a VPS or physical server with Docker to get the full feature set.

We do recommend docker environment for 1.8 series, the installation instructions can be found here - for docker http://xibo.org.uk/manual-tempel/en/install_docker.html and for the CMS via docker http://xibo.org.uk/manual-tempel/en/install_cms.html

We of course also support 1.8 series on our cloud hosting if that would be of interest to you.

If you want to persist and try a custom installation, then the pre-requisites for 1.8 series custom installation (ie not docker) are in the manual page that you’ve linked in your post.
