Hi
We’re using a non-docker setup of xibo on IIS but will move it to the docker version.
I have 2 questions
- Can we upgrade straight from 1.74 to 1.811?
- Do we have to be on the latest windows client prior to upgrading ?
Thx in advance,
Tony

There is a bug when upgrading from 1.7 directly to 1.8.11. I would strongly recommend upgrading your CMS to 1.7.9 or 1.7.10, followed by 1.8.9, finally to 1.8.11.
I would recommend making sure that your OS is up to date prior to the upgrade process, to ensure the latest updates and patches are in place.
Many Thanks.
Thank you @DanBW,
It is running on a fully patched Win2016 server.
I was referring to the Xibo windows client. I’m not sure if we have to upgrade them all prior to the server upgrade or if we can do that after.
Also, I’ve just found out that Xibo does not work with the Docker version on Win2016. Does it on Win2019 do you know? Therefore is the only option Win10? Or keep it running under IIS?
Thanks in advance.
Tony
My apologies for the misunderstanding. You can upgrade your Xibo for Windows Players before or after the CMS upgrade, there is not a set order for doing this.
As long as Docker for Linux Containers work, you should be able to run Xibo on Windows Server 2019. Please note we cannot advise or support a Custom installation on Windows Server 2019, we strongly recommend a Docker installation.
Many Thanks.
