I’ve been working with Xibo for quite some time, and everything has been running smoothly until now. However, I’m currently noticing unusual behavior with the Windows player. Very frequently, the playlist playback is interrupted and the splash screen appears, staying there for quite a while before returning to the playlist — and this keeps happening repeatedly.
I’ve already ruled out any internet issues, tested multiple player versions starting from 3.01 and onward, and the problem persists. I even created a brand-new playlist from scratch, but the issue remains.
The computer has good specifications:
Windows 10 Pro
16 GB RAM
Core i5 3.10 GHz
500 GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 (2 GB)
Sorry to hear about the issue where, when playing the layouts in your Xibo for Windows (XfW) player, there would be a point where the splash screen shows then will eventually continue playing the items in your playlist. I would recommend trying the steps below to check if this issue will still persist.
It is highly recommended that videos and images are fully optimized for compatibility and performance for the XfW player so that they play smoothly and without any issues.
If you are using images in your playlist, we highly recommend to check the resolution of your images. Images should not exceed the resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels for landscape and 2160 x 3840 for portrait.
If you are using videos in your playlist, its best that they are re-encoded in .H264 and in .mp4 format, with the Encoder profile set to Main and Encoder Level set to 4. All these configuration is pre-configured for you if you use ‘HandBrake’ to re-encode your videos. Please check and download the guide for using HandBrake in re-encoding your videos here.
Please let me know if the above recommendations worked for you.
