Set overlay ticker/text to appear on screen with scheduled content

Hello,

I am trying to figure out the best way to have a ticker/text show up over current scheduled event (like an overlay) for a limited time frame.

The situation is our client would like push announcements across their screens as they get information updates. These updates would only last about 5 minutes.

What would you recommend the best way to push this info as text/ticker while keeping the current events playing.

Just a quick recap here - best way to do that (1.8 series only) is to use overlays - https://blog.xibo.org.uk/using-overlay-layouts-in-1-8/

ie create a layout with the information you need, schedule it as an overlay event to the player.
