I have an old 1.7 system which I’m ready to replace with a new 1.8 system, just built and tested, on docker.
Is there a way to export my content, layout, scheduled etc from the 1.7 to the 1.8?

You can export your Layouts from your 1.7 CMS in the Layouts option. Simply click on the down facing triangle at the end of the Layout and choose Export. You will also find them saved in the Library location you have set for your 1.7 CMS. By default, this would be under the shared/cms/library location. Your Layouts will be saved in .XLF format.
You can also export your media items by selecting the Media option in your CMS, clicking on the down facing triangle at the end of the media item and choosing download.
It is not possible to export your schedule, this would need to be set up again.
Alternatively, you could upgrade your 1.7 CMS to 1.8, using the below guide. This way, you would not need to export/import your Layouts from the old CMS to the new:
