I want to set a schedule for my xibo, using the API; however, the client collects data every minute and if I set a schedule for 10 seconds from now, it doesn’t come on screen.
Is it possible to change the collect interval setting to less than a minute?
Thank you for your message. It is not possible to set the Collect Interval to less than 1 minute, we would also not recommend using a Collect Interval as short as this for general use, as the amount of traffic this could generate when running multiple Displays would be increased dramatically compared to a 10 minute interval for example.
If you require changes to the Schedule to be communicated and pushed quickly to a Display, XMR is the service to do that for you. All Displays configured to use XMR (and your CMS of course) will be able to receive changes quicker than your collect Interval. You can even use the Collect Now option with XMR to ensure your Displays react to changes immediately.
Please consider that setting an Event to appear on your Display 10 seconds after you have scheduled it is a very short period of time. When you schedule a Layout, please also note that the Player will need to collect the new schedule, download any files it requires for the Event and then it will appear on your Display. With this in mind you may find that the time taken to download the required files alone could be longer than 10 seconds, depending on your connection speed and the size of the files in the Layout.
Whilst XMR will ensure the Display and CMS communicate straight away, you may find that more time is needed to actually get all of the required files.
