Having come from 1.8 series and now using 2.0.3, I am slowly getting used to the new layout designer.
I have noticed, that while the new designer is intuitive, it now lacks the ability to see widget content when creating or editing region positions. Instead, regions just show as grey boxes placeholders.
It would be very helpful if this view could render widgets as this would greatly assist when designing complex layouts with text or images that need to be aligned with nearby regions.
Maybe a button could be added to toggle back and forth between the views?
The image below shows the region editor, which doesn’t render any of the widget content.
