If I make a backup of the database like here http://xibo.org.uk/manual/en/release_notes_clonedb.html (which method do you recommend?) it is necessary to do a manual backup of database after doing this?
One or the other will be fine - no need to do both.

how can i upgrade this version from 1.7.5?

I installed 1.7.6 CMS on the server and the client too, and now I see that the functionality of ‘Schedule Now’ is not working any more. ‘Default Layout’ works OK, same the schedule programming but Schedule Now it doesn’t work.
There haven’t been any changes to that functionality and I can remember testing it (we actually test that functionality a lot because it is the easiest way to get our other test Layouts shown on the players).
Please run through another test to make sure (allowing for the collection interval on the player) and if you still have a problem open up a new topic in the support category giving full details of the problem and what you’ve tried.
I have tried again and sometimes works, sometimes not. Maybe it is from my settings because i have only 5 seconds the collection interval. However, Default Layout works good any time and I can use this.
A 5 second collection interval is far too low and may well cause other issues - the minimum we recommend is 60 seconds.
